What Rangerly Is

Rangerly is a check-in tool for people who head out alone. Before a trip, they tell Rangerly when they expect to be back. If they don't check in on time, Rangerly alerts the emergency contacts that they've chosen.

No app to install, no account to create. Just a text or email when it matters.

Why You're Getting This

If someone added you as an emergency contact, that means they trust you to help make sure they're okay if something feels off.

You'll hear from Rangerly in two situations:

  • They missed a check-in. You'll get an alert with whatever trip details they chose to share — expected return time, general location, activity, anything else they thought you'd need.
  • They checked in late. If they miss a check-in and then check in themselves, you'll get a short follow-up letting you know they're safe.

That's it. No day-to-day notifications, no “just checking in” spam. Rangerly won't contact you unless something needs your attention.

What To Do If You Get an Alert

Most missed check-ins aren't emergencies — plans change, phones die, cell service disappears. Start here:

  1. Try to reach them directly. Call, text, whatever usually works.
  2. Check with anyone they mentioned being with, if you know who that is.
  3. Trust your judgment. If you can't reach them and something feels wrong, contact local authorities. You know them, and the situation, better than we do.

Rangerly doesn't call 911 automatically. That decision is yours to make.

Message Frequency & Opt-Out

You'll only hear from Rangerly when a check-in is missed or resolved. The frequency depends entirely on how often the person you're supporting uses the service.

  • Reply STOP to any message to opt out.
  • Reply HELP to any message, or come back to this page, any time.
  • Message and data rates may apply.

Privacy

Rangerly doesn't track anyone's real-time location. The only details in an alert are what the person chose to share when they set up the trip. Your own contact info is used only to deliver alerts and isn't shared beyond that.
